A Harvestfly Cicada on a tree branch. These annual Cicadas are usually only seen during the Dog Days of summer and usually feed on pine trees or pine roots. Unlike the "17-year" cicadas, this species hatches every year in the same area and the nymphs mature in only 3 years. They are quite loud. 8/31/2009
