Lake Michigan |
Mostly Sunny. Air temps in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Southwest winds
around 20 mph.
Water temp was 36 to 39. |
|
The guys with live bait were hammering them. I stuck with jigs and
did ok for the short time I was out.

| 2. |
Des Plaines River |
Mostly Cloudy. Air temps in the mid 30s. South winds around 10 mph.
Water temp was 42 to 48. |
|
I fished a lot of water to catch the fish I caught today but it
paid off with a couple real nice ones. They wanted a real slow retrieve.
Most of the fish were on the small side but the few nice ones I
got more than made up for it - especially at this time of the year.

Des Plaines River |
Bright Sunshine. Air temps in the mid 20s. North winds around 5
mph.
Water temp was 32 to 46. |
|
Just like last week I covered a lot of water. I found fish shallow
and around bait schools, even in 32 degree water. Most of the fish
were small but the few good ones and the Eagle photos made the cold
worth it.

Des Plaines River |
Mostly Cloudy. Air temps in the upper 20s. North winds around 15
mph.
Water temp was 38 to 50. |
|
I started fishing in one of my usual spots and things were slow
for a while. I started moving around and caught a lot of fish by
the time I was ready to go. Most of the Bass were small but there
a few real good ones mixed in. I also caught a real good walleye
and a few nice White Bass. The water was warmer this week.
|

| 5. |
Powerton Lake |
Partly Cloudy. Air temps in the low 40s. SW winds around 20 mph
gusting to 35 mph.
Water temp was 37 to 60. |
|
I got one nice fish right away then didn't get another hit for 2
hours. My third fish hit a short time after that. All 3 fish were
good ones but it was slow and very windy so I decided to leave early.

| 6. |
Braidwood State Fish and Wildlife Area |
Cloudy with rain and thunderstorms. Air temps in the mid 30s. Variable
East to Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph.
Water temp was 51 to 68. |
|
We had to wait out a thunderstorm before heading out into the wind
and rain, but once we got out, we did ok before being chased off
by another T-storm. Boat control was tough in the wind but despite
the weather, we had a great time.
|
||||||||||||||
| 7. |
Braidwood State Fish and Wildlife Area |
Thick fog early then bright sunshine. Air temps in the mid 40s.
Variable NW winds 5 to 15 mph.
Water temp was 63 to 78. |
|
We had to wait until we could see more than a few feet before launching
the boat, then idle all the way to our spot due to the thick fog.
We caught a couple nice fish, and most of the fish were caught after
the fog lifted.

| 8. |

Thick fog early then bright sunshine. Air temps in the mid 40s.
Variable ENE winds 15 to 25 mph.

good fish. the water was cool for this time of year.

| 9. |
Des Plaines River |
Mostly Sunny. Air temp in the mid 50s. SSW wind around 15 mph.
Water temp was 52 to 62. |
|
The river was high, moving fast, and dirty due to recent rains and
flooding upstream. Fishing was tough but I managed a couple decent
fish anyway.
|
||||||||||||||
| 10. |
LaSalle Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area |
Rain, then mostly cloudy, then storms. SE wind around 20 mph.
Water temp was 60 to90. |
|
I caught a couple big fish today but overall the majority of the

fish were all caught early except for the Drum.
|

| 11. |
Heidecke Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area |
Mostly Sunny. NW wind gusting to 29 mph. Air temp around the
freezing mark.
Water temp was 42 to 45. |
|
I caught one of my best fish and managed to get one photo of him
before he shook my grip and fell back into the water. The other
two fish weren't bad either. Overall, fishing was very slow and
there weren't many out due to the brutal weather.

LaSalle Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area |
Mostly Cloudy. Air temp around Freezing. WNW wind around 10 and
diminishing.
Water temp was 45 78. |
|
One fish made the trip worth it. It was my second biggest
Smallmouth ever. I caught a couple fair Drum and a couple fair
Largemouth, but all the other fish were on the small side. I
spooked a coyote about to pounce on an unsuspecting goose.
|

| 13. |
Des Plaines River |
Sunny. Air temp in the upper 60s to 70. ESE wind around 5 mph.
Water temp was 58 to 62. |
|
I hit Heidecke 1st and got 1 Musky to the boat before he took
the lure and was gone. I almost had him in the net. I had
another bite off the lure too. It got too crowded for me so I
left and hit the Des Plaines River. All but 2 of the Largemouth
I caught in the Des Plaines were small fish, and other than
that, everything else I caught was pretty decent.

Sunny. Air temp in the upper 80s . SW wind around 5 mph
switching to a North wind around 10mph for Saturday.
Water temp was 76 to 78. |
|
Fishing was pretty good for practice on Friday but it slowed
considerably for the tournament we fished on Saturday. We caught
a lot of keeper fish during practice but my partner managed just
a few during the tournament. We did better than most despite the
slow fishing. We caught a lot of fish on Saturday but were only
able to weigh in the keepers my partner put in the boat.

Cloudy. NW wind around 5mph briefly higher. Air temp around 60.

the effort.

Weather ranged from hot and humid with blue skies, to hot with a
little light rain. Air temp was in the 90s everyday.

|
So far the first couple days have been pretty good, although day
3 was a little tough. Mike caught the biggest bass of the trip,
but I did pretty good too since I had an extra week down there.

the boat.

| 18. |
Des Plaines River |
Sunny. Air temp in the low 30s to upper 50s. N wind around 10 mph.
Water temp was 74. |
|
I hit the water just after a very strong cold front came through
and brought with it a record cold morning for the date. The bass
I caught were very small but the Drum were fair fish. It was
nice to be out in the new boat again in IL.

Lake of the Ozarks |
50s and sun the first day to near 80 and sun the last day.
SW winds to 15 mph.
Water temp was 58 to 62. |
|
The fall colors were in full swing and the weather was great. I
caught a lot of fish including few real nice ones, and I kept
running into schools of good sized White Bass.
|

| 20. |
Illinois River |
Mostly Cloudy then decreasing clouds. Air temp in the mid 30s.
WSW wind around 10 mph.

I tried fishing for Sauger early but wound up feeding them a few
minnows. Once I realized no one else was catching them either I
headed off in search of Bass and caught a lot of fish. The
Sauger started biting later on but I had to go.

Des Plaines River |
Cloudy. Snow, then an Ice Storm. Air temp around 26. SE wind around 10 mph
and increasing.
Water temp was 48. |
|
My goal was to catch a few fish and get off the water before the
storm hit. The fish were hitting so good that I wound up pulling
the boat over ice all the way home. It was worth it! I caught
fish everywhere I stopped.
|

| 22. |
Des Plaines River |

|
||||||||||||||
| 23. |
Powerton Lake |
Mostly Sunny with increasing clouds late. Air temps in the mid 40s. South winds around
10 mph.
Water temp was 46 to 49. |

I got one nice Smallmouth but that was about it. The power plant
was not pumping hot water, That along with the bright sunshine
and the cold water had the fish scattered and inactive.
